What a great turn out this year again for the games. We were blessed with the weather even though the Met office said it would be torrential rain all day, our prayers were heard and that weather window lasted until the winners left the field with their trophy – celebrating a 1st for Chilterns residents, who proved a community can work together (although once in those soapy tubes – slippery when wet!).
The weather didn’t really matter as all the competitors got wet anyway! Huge thanks to SRC Bede 6th Form and all their wonderful staff, for agreeing to be the host venue again for this fun competition. Thank you to the team from Lottie and Jack’s who brought their arts and crafts fayre for the first time to the show, local businesses KP Snacks for providing crisps for families and competitors and Tesco who provided bottles of water to quench the thirst of all those ‘athletes’ competing!
It wouldn’t be the games without all of our residents, businesses and educators wanting to come together to, for a brief moment, not take themselves too seriously – simply have a great time and recognise that we all want the very best for each other – well that’s what community is all about, isn’t it?
The Community Games are a Billingham Legacy Foundation event – working to bringing communities together, creating a great place for all of us to live, work and play. We already have advance bookings for 10 teams for 2016 – so if you want to take part next year, email: firstname.lastname@example.org
